The next morning (Tsagaan Sar ­ New Years Day) we got up before dawn and mucked out the animals’ yards and shed. Then got dressed in our finery and did the traditional walk around the ger. For instance, because of my birth date he divined from this ancient book I had to head out south for one kilometre, then go clockwise and head back in from the south­east towards the ger. I wish they would think up more comfortable traditions!!! Like a Pimms Number One Cup over a hearty fire!!!

Dulamjav, after suitable prayers, put an incense burner on the front gate top (picture).
